IND vs BAN Live: Shakib Al Hasan confirmed fit to play; leads Bangladesh

The decision on whether Shakib al Hasan will play in the first Test against India, which will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, was made after evaluating the all-rounder yesterday, according to Russell Domingo, the head coach of Bangladesh.

At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Shakib has been the centre of attention ever since the last 2 days. Yesterday, he left the group practice to have his ribs examined by a doctor after Umran Malik injured them during the recently concluded ODI series in Dhaka. Shakib Al Hasan was injured on Umran Malik’s delivery in the recent ODI series which has forced the batsman to go for further scans.

Fortunate enough, Shakib was seen back in the whites and taking up the responsibility of leading his side for the red-ball series against India. Bangladesh will be positive after Shakib assured his availability for the first Test.

“We’re playing a Test match after 5 months, that’s a big gap but we’ve prepared well and hopefully we can put on a good show. This is an important series hopefully we can put some (WTC) points on the board. We’ve got two seamers, three spinners and seven batsmen,” said skipper Shakib al Hasan.
