India was able to add 70 runs to their total and reach 348/7 by lunch on a in Chattogram, all while losing just one wicket. With two wickets in the final five overs, Bangladesh, whose spinners had a successful first day, began with a different attacking strategy. Ebadot Hossain, the pacer, was the main enforcer and used short balls to target both the experienced Shreyas Iyer and the freshman R Ashwin.
Before witnessing the short ball strategy almost succeed, the hosts first had a review for LBW against Ashwin which was rejected. Shreyas Iyer was lured into a hook that went down to fine leg after adding three to his late-day score of 82. However, Litton Das lost the opportunity by cutting across to his left. Ebadot was disappointed, but only for a moment. Iyer’s feet were soon stuck far into the crease when he slipped in a length ball as a change-up and noticed it.
