India will be pleased with their strong start to the second Test, as they took two wickets in quick succession.
Bangladesh batted first, with Shanto and Zakir Hasan, their usual opening two for this series. The first 14 overs appeared to be a satisfactory score for the hosts until Unadkat took advantage of his 12-year break and took India’s first wicket for the day.
Jaydev Unadkat, who had not played in 12 years, took his first wicket, while Zakir Hasan, who had recently debuted and scored a magnificent tonne in the first Test, had to depart.
With renewed energy, India was able to take another wicket in the 16th over when veteran spinner Ashwin struck a golden delivery to appeal for LBW, which was later ruled “OUT.”
India finished the first session with two wickets, while Bangladesh will be hoping that experienced batter Shakib al Hasan can turn the tables after lunch.
Brief score: BAN – 82/2 (28 overs)
