IND vs AUS: Surya Kumar Yadav set to debut in Test as Shreyas Iyer ‘doubtful’ for Test series

Due to a back injury, Shreyas Iyer will probably miss the Australia Test series. He was certain to play in the first two Tests against Australia, but according to a senior BCCI official, he is now a doubtful. However, the selectors still hope that he will be healthy by February 9 for the first Test in Nagpur, despite leaving him out of the New Zealand series. Instead, Suryakumar Yadav has become the front-runner to play in his first Test.

Earlier,  BCCI stated that the Indian batsman was ruled out due to “back injury”

Team India batter Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match ODI series against New Zealand due to a back injury. He will be heading to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further assessment and management,” the statement read.

Rajat Patidar replaced Shreyas Iyer in the India’s squad for the New Zealand series. Iyer played in all the matches in the recently-concluded series against Sri Lanka.
