KL Rahul, the vice-captain of India’s Test team, will be under the radar today as the BCCI Selection Committee, under the direction of Shiv Sundar Das, chooses the team. The Border Gavaskar Trophy’s final two Test matches and the three-match ODI series squads will be chosen by the committee’s four members. After the Ranji Trophy Final was supposed to be the selection meeting.
However, debates will centre on whether Sarfaraz Khan should be called up instead of KL Rahul for the Test team. Sarfaraz has scored more than 1000 runs for three straight Ranji Trophy seasons, while Rahul has experienced a terrible slump in performance. But with KL Rahul as team’s official Vice Captain, it seems impossible to replace him.
