Australia’s star all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, may not feature in all matches of the upcoming ODI series against India, a series that holds immense importance as a preparatory phase for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
The Australian cricket team is set to travel to India in preparation for the upcoming ICC tournament and is scheduled to engage in a 3-match ODI series against the Indian cricket team. However, Maxwell’s availability for all these matches remains in doubt.
Maxwell, who is currently nursing an injury sustained during Australia’s tour of South Africa, expressed his desire to play against Rohit Sharma’s side but emphasized that he would not jeopardize his recovery by putting excessive pressure on himself.
The injury that has sidelined Maxwell occurred during a training session in Durban as he prepared for Australia’s T20I series against South Africa. The severity of the injury forced him to withdraw from the series prematurely, returning home for medical attention.
Notably, this is not Maxwell’s first encounter with injuries; he had previously suffered a significant leg injury at a friend’s birthday party the year before. Given his injury history, the Australian selectors, led by Tony Dodemaide, are adopting a cautious approach to ensure that Maxwell fully recovers from his recent ankle injury before considering his participation in upcoming matches.
