IND vs AUS: Captain Finch confirms Steve Smith’s batting position after Mitchell Marsh’s exclusion

The T20I series between Australia and India will start on September 20 in Mohali and run for three games. The three-match series will begin in Mohali on Tuesday, and the Australian team will depart for India early on Thursday. Hyderabad (September 23) and Nagpur (September 24) will host the final two games (September 25).

The sides have already begun their practise sessions, and captain Finch and the Australian management made a crucial choice regarding Steve Smith’s position at bat in the T20 Internationals.

According to Aaron Finch, Steven Smith will “likely” bat at No. 3 with Mitchell Marsh out with an ankle injury for the first game of the T20I series against India in Mohali, and might continue with the similar plan throughout the series.

Smith’s recent performance in the shortest format has not been great. In the T20 World Cup last year, the experienced batsman averaged 23 and scored his runs at a strike rate of 97.18. Since then, he has managed an additional 65 runs in five T20 Internationals.

Given that Mitch Marsh is out of the series, Smith will probably bat at 3, Finch said in the press conference. ” We know the quality that Steve’s got. He’s one of the best players that has ever played the game over all formats of the game. So we know the skill that he’s got and the game sense and the tactical nous that he’s got. So we’re really confident that regardless of what role he has to play within the structure of the squad, that he can do that very, very well,” Finch added.
