IND vs AUS: BCCI reveals why Jadeja, KS Bharat came out to bat before Shreyas Iyer

For the second time in the series, Ravindra Jadeja batted ahead of Shreyas Iyer and came out after Shubman Gill was dismissed on day 3. Many people were surprised to see Jadeja bat ahead of Iyer because he can also play as a specialist batter. On day 4, however, fans were taken aback when KS Bharat batted ahead of the specialist batsman.

Following Jadeja’s dismissal on day 4, fans expected Iyer to appear, but Bharat was sent ahead of him. A few minutes later, the BCCI revealed why Iyer has yet to bat in the fourth Test match.

“Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in his lower back following the third day’s play. He has gone for scans and the BCCI Medical Team is monitoring him,” the board said in its statement.

Iyer may or may not be able to bat on day 4; this is uncertain. If Iyer is unable to bat, Team India will suffer greatly without him. It will be up to R Ashwin and Axar Patel to once again display their batting prowess in his absence. The all-rounders will need to repeat their performance because they have scored significant runs.
