IND vs AUS: BCCI informs ICC Match Referees that Ravindra Jadeja was ‘only using’ pain-relief cream and not any other substance

In the video clips that were widely shared on social media on the first day of the Nagpur Test against Australia, Ravindra Jadeja was seen applying pain-relieving cream to the index finger of his bowling hand, according to the Indian team management, which has informed ICC match referee Andy Pycroft.

In the video, Jadeja can be seen using his right hand to remove something from Mohammed Siraj’s palm. Then, just before starting to bowl a delivery, Jadeja appeared to rub this substance onto the index finger of his left hand, which is his bowling arm. Despite having the ball in his hands at the time, Jadeja was never seen rubbing anything on it in the video.

At the time of the incident, Jadeja had already dismissed Steven Smith, Matt Renshaw, and Marnus Labuschagne and Australia was 120 for 5.

According to reports, Jadeja, India captain Rohit Sharma, and the team manager were all shown a video of Jadeja’s actions immediately following the conclusion of the first day’s play. It is understood that Pycroft only wanted to let them know about the incident and that Jadeja was not charged.
