Underwood is the leading wicket-taker for visiting spinners.

The Men in Blue have had a terrific record against spin bowlers over the years, but some opposition bowlers have managed to excel against the best in the business.

Although Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan average over 40 wickets in Test matches in India, Derek Underwood is the leading wicket-taker for visiting spinners. Throughout 16 Tests, he took 54 wickets at an average of 26.51

With 53 wickets, Nathan Lyon is the second-highest wicket-taker among Australians in Test cricket. Lyon produced some of his best performances against India. In 2013, he picked up 15 wickets in three Tests during his first visit to India. In 2017, Lyon improved this total to 19 wickets in four Tests. Against India, he achieved the best figure of his career in an inning of 8/50 (Bengaluru, 2017).

Richie Benaud took 52 wickets in eight Test matches in India. India’s finest batters, including Vinoo Mankada, Vijay Manjrekar, and Pankaj Roy, were dismissed cheaply.
