In the latest update, Axar Patel’s absence from the third ODI coincides with the rest granted to Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur for the upcoming Rajkot game. This means that neither Gill nor Thakur will be making the journey from Indore to Rajkot.
The Indian team will, however, welcome back Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were given rest for the initial two games of the ongoing three-match series. Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested after the first ODI in Mohali and did not travel to Indore, is expected to rejoin the team in Rajkot, where the third and final ODI against Australia is scheduled for September 27.
The national selectors have until September 27 to name the final 15-player World Cup squad. Both the Indian and Australian teams will depart from Indore for Rajkot on Tuesday afternoon. Currently, the home team leads the three-game series 2-0.
