
Jitesh Sharma, the 29-year old wicketkeeper-batter from Vidarbha, has been named Samson’s replacement. Jitesh made his IPL debut in 2022 playing for Punjab Kings.
After suffering a left knee injury in the opening match in Mumbai, Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the final two Twenty20 Internationals against Sri Lanka. The wicketkeeper-batter stayed behind in Mumbai for scans and a specialist’s opinion, and was advised to rest and undergo rehabilitation rather than travelling to Pune with the Indian team.

Jitesh Sharma, a 28-year-old wicketkeeper, was purchased by Punjab Kings at the 2022 IPL auction for his base price of Rs 20 lakh.
The 2021 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy semifinal run by Vidarbha was greatly aided by Sharma.
The wicket-keeper scored 214 runs at an astounding strike rate of 235.16 while batting primarily in the middle order, between Numbers 3 and 5. In addition to that, he also had a 53.50 average.
Jitesh was previously a member of the IPL and was acquired by the Mumbai Indians in 2016. He was released prior to the 2018 auction after not appearing in a single game, and he hasn’t returned to the league since.
