IND v PAK: Dinesh Karthik dropped for Rishabh Pant; Fans in awe after both seen hand-in-hand

The super four round of the 2022 Asia Cup will feature the classical match between Pakistan and India. On September 4 (Sunday), India and Pakistan will square off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates for the second time in this tournament.

Babar Azam leads Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022, while Rohit Sharma captains India. India advanced to the super four round by defeating Pakistan and Hong Kong in the group round. Pakistan overcame Hong Kong but lost to India.

Skipper Babar Azam won the toss and decided to field first

In order to give Deepak Hooda an opportunity to bat in the middle of the order, India will replace Dinesh Karthik in the starting XI. Rishabh Pant will also be assigned the primary wicket-keeping position.

It is clear that the Indian squad must pause and deliberate before selecting the ideal wicketkeeper for a finishing position. The most recent encounter between India and Pakistan took place on August 28 during an Asia Cup league game in which Rishabh Pant was benched and Dinesh Karthik was given the significant role. Dinesh Karthik has been flexible in fielding but one cannot forget the catches Karthik took against Pakistan.

The lone position of wicket keeper is shared by the pair, but Rishabh Pant was expected to be there today after Ravindra Jadeja’s absence was spotted.  It was earlier noted that Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out from the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 owing this unfortunate scenario to his knee injury which has been witnessed as a recurring problem for the all-rounder as he missed the previous series against West Indies due to the same reason (in July). Ravindra Jadeja is also unavailable for ICC T20I World Cup, which makes a place for another player while considering the squad who will fly to Australia.
