IND v NZ: Ruturaj Gaikwad to miss the T20I series due to wrist injury

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the T20I series against New Zealand.

Indian cricket team opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the T20I series against New Zealand starting from today. Ruturaj won’t be seen playing in any of the three games in this series due to wrist injury. He sustained an injury in the practice session and thus BCCI said he won’t be available for the games.

Ruturaj Gaikwad was also picked in the recent Sri Lankan series but wasn’t seen playing as he didn’t get any chances. However, the Indian opening batter Ruturaj Gaikwad wasn’t expected to be in the Indian cricket team’s starting XI as there are two batters who are in exceptional run of form named Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill.

Opener Ruturaj Gaikwad’s record in first-class cricket in 2022 was phenomenal and thus he got a chance in the Indian squad for Sri Lanka and New Zealand’s series. The Indian cricket team will play the first T20I against New Zealand on 27th January at JSCA International Stadium, Complex, Ranchi.

After the ODIs, India will look to lift the T20I series trophy as well under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy.
