IND v IRE: Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda marks India’s highest T20I partnership

Deepak Hooda struck a brilliant century, while Sanju Samson hit his long-awaited T20I maiden half-century.

The highest-ever partnership in T20s for India was achieved by Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson. In the second T20I match against Ireland on Tuesday, their partnership put up 176 runs off 87 deliveries for the second wicket.

The pair surpassed Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul‘s (165) record for the highest T20I partnership amongst Indians for any wicket during the partnership by playing together for the first time in an international cricket match.

Samson and Hooda helped India surpass the 180-run threshold. The Indian hitters quickly reached their fifties with no difficulty from any of the Irish bowlers. Samson started off as the more aggressive of the two batters, scoring 77 runs in just 42 balls while hitting nine fours and four maximums. However, in the middle overs, Hooda grabbed control of the game, destroying the bowlers at whim and reaching the century in just 55 balls.

Hooda, who contributed a crucial undefeated innings in the first game to help India stroll to victory, was in excellent form as he formed a solid second-wicket combination with Samson. In the series finale, Hooda was replaced by Samson in lieu of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was unable to play due to an injury. Samson served as Ishan Kishan‘s opening partner. Samson took control of the situation by playing a brilliant knock.

After winning the toss, Indian captain Hardik Pandya decided to bat first. As they took Ishan Kishan’s significant wicket early in the game, the Irish team had some success. Then Hooda joined Samson, and they both began out cautiously before beginning to push limits as they got into position.
