Ind v Eng: Ben Stokes accidentally use saliva on ball

English all-rounder Ben Stokes accidentally put saliva on the ball during the day-night Test match on Day 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday. The on-filed umpires sanitised the ball as soon as the incident happened. Umpire Nitin Menon had a conversation with Stokes following the incident.

International Cricket Council (ICC) banned the use of saliva on the ball following the communicable COVID-19 spread out across the world. The new ICC guidelines state that a team can be warned twice following the use of saliva after that 5 runs will be credited to the batting side.

The opening day of the solitary day-night Test match was fruitful for the homeboy Axar Patel. The 27-year-old Ahmedabad lad picked up another five-wicket haul in just two Tests. The spinner joined an elite panel of Mohammad Nissar and Narendra Hirwani who took two five-wicket hauls in their first two Tests. Axar ended the brilliant innings picking up six scalps while only conceding 38 runs.

He got the support of Ravichandran Ashwin who clutched three wickets. The spinner duo shared nine wickets among them. England were bundled out for 112. At the end of Day 1, India are at 99/3.
