IND v ENG 5th test: Jasprit Bumrah breaks record in Test wickets for India

Bumrah hit Stuart Broad for 29 runs earlier in the match, setting a world record for the most runs ever scored in a single over of Test cricket.

With a brilliant spell with the ball on the fourth day of the match, Jasprit Bumrah maintained his fantastic captaincy debut in the ongoing fifth and final Test of the England-India series at Edgbaston.

In a series against England, Bumrah surpassed the record set by former India captain Kapil Dev for the most wickets taken by an Indian bowler. As of now in the second innings of the fifth Test, Bumrah has taken two wickets. In the five-match Test series, he has now taken 23 wickets.

Earlier, during the 1981–82 series, Kapil Dev had taken 22 wickets. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who grabbed 19 wickets in India’s series against The Three Lions in 2014, is third on the list.

Bumrah has also been exhibiting his potential as a top pacer in SENA countries, where he has played against them on their home ground and taken 100 Test wickets, making him the sixth Indian bowler to do so.

With a 107-run opening partnership between Zak Crawley and Alex Less, England had a great start to the chase on Day 4. Bumrah came through for the side when they required him the most by making a spectacular delivery to knock Crawley on the stroke of tea. The heat is on the visitors, who are trying to win their first series on English soil since 2007.
