“In Australia pitch curators are informed months before..,” Former Australian captain slams Ahmedabad stadium’s pitch curators

A few weeks ago, Mark Waugh, a former captain of Australia, and Dinesh Karthik caused controversy with their commentary. The pitch used in Ahmedabad for the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy has now come under fire from Waugh. Additionally, Waugh criticized the curators for waiting until the last minute to decide on the playing surface for the Test match and insisted that something needs to be done about it.

Mark Waugh stated that he was perplexed to learn that the pitch curator had not chosen which track would be played for the final Test match. He makes fun of the pitch and curator, saying that he has no idea what is happening there but that something needs to be done.

Waugh said, “This is not on. I don’t know how you don’t know what pitch you’re playing on. In Australia, I think the groundsman and curators are told months in advance, so they set up the pitch for the camera, the side-screen, the spectators. But in India, it’s different. I don’t know what’s going on here but I think something needs to be done about this.”

“It’s a bit like county cricket. You used to turn up to county grounds and there would be three pitches prepared depending on who turned up for the opposition side, then they would decide. I don’t know what’s going on here but I think something needs to be done about this,” added Waugh.
