The eagerly awaited schedule for the ICC World Cup 2023 is nearing its finalization. Within the next 48 hours, the final schedule will be announced after the ICC Meeting concludes, according to a senior BCCI official. The choice of venue for the India vs Pakistan match has been a contentious issue, with the PCB opposing Ahmedabad. As a result, Chennai is expected to host the high-stakes encounter, while Pakistan will play their other league matches in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
As the World Cup 2023 schedule is being finalized, it appears that Chennai will be the host for the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match. However, if Pakistan reaches the semifinals or final, they will play their games at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The reason behind the delay in announcing the World Cup 2023 schedule is the ongoing rift between the BCCI and PCB. With India declining to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 and ICC Champions Trophy 2023, the ICC is working to mediate between the two boards. Despite this disagreement, there is currently no indication that Pakistan will boycott the World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by India in October.
The PCB has set conditions for their participation, one of which is not playing in Ahmedabad due to political reasons. Initially, Ahmedabad was slated to host the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash at the world’s largest cricket stadium. However, due to Pakistan’s refusal, the BCCI had to revise the schedule. Once all parties, particularly Pakistan, approve the chosen venues, the ICC will release the final schedule for the World Cup 2023.
