The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a groundbreaking decision during its Annual Conference in Durban, South Africa. The ICC announced equal prize money for both men’s and women’s teams participating in ICC events, eliminating the long-standing discrimination between the genders.
This decision was a significant step towards achieving gender equality in cricket and fulfilled the ICC Board’s commitment to reaching prize money equity by 2030 well ahead of schedule. Furthermore, adjustments were made to the over-rate sanctions in Test cricket, aiming to maintain a desirable pace of play while providing teams with a fair chance to rectify any shortcomings.
These measures reflect the ICC’s dedication to promoting an engaging and inclusive environment in cricket.
I am thrilled to announce that a major step towards gender parity & inclusivity has been undertaken. The prize money at all @ICC events will be same for men & women. Together we grow._ — Jay Shah
