Dinesh Karthik, the Indian wicket-keeper batsman says, there are plenty of positives for India after the match was abandoned on the fifth day. The former Kolkata Knight Riders captain thinks that India showed a lot more effort and they were up throughout this game. Even though the match got cancelled due to the rain, Virat Kohli’s men are very confident in how they play.

He was happy to see the Indian team’s overall performance in this first game. He said if the match had happened, India would have surely won as they were ahead of the English side in the whole game.

“I think India definitely had the upper hand going into the final day. India will take a lot more from this game than England would – overall they played a very good brand of cricket,” Karthik told Sky Sports.

Dinesh Karthik also pointed out some of the positives that can be carried forward in the next Matches. He appreciated Jasprit Bumrah for his amazing bowling performance on the Britain pitch in the first tests. “Bumrah set the tone in the first over, setting up Rory Burns the way he did, the bowling unit was good and I thought the batters came in with a lot of intent,” Karthik added.

Not only Bumrah but all the other Indian pacers who played in this match did very well. Shardul Thakur also took wickets, which counted as a positive as he joined the team as Hardik Pandya’s replacement. He took 2 wickets in the first innings and two in another. India was also playing without their regular opener Mayank Agrawal as KL Rahul took his place and scored 84 in the first innings, which was a good sign for India. Surely all these positives are going to help team India in the upcoming matches against England, according to Karthik.
