How will Ravindra Jadeja’s absence impact team India?

Ravindra Jadeja, the star all-rounder for India, was forced to withdraw from the Asia Cup mid-tournament due to a knee injury, which prevented him from competing in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Jadeja shared a few pictures on Instagram to let everyone know that his knee surgery went well.

Jadeja didn’t find a spot in the BCCI’s team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup because he won’t be able to recuperate from his injury in time. Axar Patel was chosen by the All India Selection Committee to replace Jadeja on the 15-person team as a like-to-like replacement.

When Ravindra Jadeja benefited team India by dominating the group games in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, the all-rounder’s absence from the Super 4 stage was an unfortunate turn for the blues.

When India and Pakistan met for the second time, it was evident that the middle order was losing its strength as Hardik Pandya went back in for a duck and Pant and Deepak Hooda played with a low strike rate of about 115. The only positive development during the match was Virat Kohli’s recovery from the dip.

The Sri Lankan team’s first wicket was grabbed by Chahal after the drinks break in the second Super 4 match since the blues were struggling to secure a breakthrough wicket in the initial overs. Only if  Jadeja had been there to reverse the momentum in the first few overs—a spinner’s delivery benefits the team on any kind of pitch—things would have turned out otherwise.

It would be questionable to accept Axar Patel as the “ideal replacement” for the seasoned all-rounder due to playing against the hardest teams in the key event of the ICC World Cup.
