Gautam Gambhir not happy with Pant’s second innings performance as the wicket-keeper batter was out for none

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has slammed Rishabh Pant for his careless batting. On day 3 of the Second Test, Rishabh Pant was out for a duck as he faces only three balls and went back to the pavilion.

Gautam Gambhir was not happy with Rishabh Pant’s batting performance on Wednesday. In the ongoing Test series between India vs South Africa, the visitors are leading the series by 1-0 after Virat Kohli’s men created history by winning against South Africa for the first time at Centurion. It was a pretty one-sided game for the Blues. But, in the second Test which is being played at New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, Indian players are struggling a bit. They couldn’t dominate this game like the First Test. On day 3 of the Second Test, the Indian batting line-up was completely destroyed by South African bowlers.

After losing captain Rahul and Mayank so early, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane played amazing innings and contributed some runs with a great 3rd wicket partnership. Hanuma Vihari also handled the innings very well after both Rahane and Pujara were departed. Rishabh Pant came to the crease after India lost its 4th wicket. Rishabh felt the pressure since the start and was out for the third ball duck. It seemed that Van der Dussen of South Africa spoke some words to Rishabh and was trying to distract him. That trick from him really worked out as in the next ball Rishabh made a wrong shot selection and got caught by wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne.

Gautam Gambhir feels that that shot from Rishabh Pant was very unprofessional and the former Indian cricketer thinks that Rishabh Pant couldn’t handle the pressure. “There wouldn’t have been much criticism if he played the same shot in one-day cricket. But given the situation of the game, to play a shot like this. I’ve always believed that there is a very thin line between bravery and stupidity. You can’t call this bravery, it’s stupidity.” Gautam Gambhir said on the Byju’s Cricket live show telecasted on Star Sports Network.
