Following India’s setback in Women’s World Cup, Smriti Mandhana writes an emotional message to fans

After a tight loss against South Africa on Sunday, India was unable to move to the semi-finals.

Smriti Mandhana conveys her gratitude to the fans for supporting the Indian national cricket squad in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2022.

Taking to her instagram official account, Smriti captioned, “I know it’s a bit late to post this but it’s still taking time to process all that’s happened. Definitely not the way we wanted to end this tournament, but I just want to say that I’m really proud of this team who gave it their all and fought till the end. We have received so much love and support from each one of you’ll and I just want to say it means the world to us. Thank you for supporting us in our highs and lows.”

India was eliminated from the tournament after a nail-biting encounter versus South Africa which fell down to the last ball, in the final league stage match took place at Hagley Oval in Christchurch on Sunday. 

A win would have put India in the semifinals just at cost of the West Indies, but South Africa won by three wickets with Mignon du Preez’s immaculate half-century.
