Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, and Sam Curran have returned to the Test squad.

England has announced a 17-man squad for the first two Tests of the five-match Test series against India, which begins on Wednesday, August 4 at Trent Bridge.

England Men’s Test Squad: Joe Root (Yorkshire) Captain, James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Dom Bess (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Rory Burns (Surrey), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Sam Curran (Surrey), Haseeb Hameed (Nottinghamshire), Dan Lawrence (Essex), Jack Leach (Somerset), Ollie Pope (Surrey), Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Dom Sibley (Warwickshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Mark Wood (Durham).

After missing the Tests against New Zealand, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, and Sam Curran have returned to the Test squad. The 17-man roster for the first two Tests also includes Haseeb Hameed and Ollie Robinson.

Fast bowler Jofra Archer is not available due to an elbow injury whereas Chris Woakes is also struggling due to a heel injury. Both the players are still not fit enough for selection. Archer is making improvements after elbow surgery, but he is not yet ready to return to Test cricket. Last week, Woakes had a bruised heel, although he is expected to return later in the series.
