England’s team coach Chris Silverwood has confirmed that Ben Stokes and Jos Butler will not swap positions in the batting line-up like they did during the IPL 2020 season. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) used the all-rounder as the opener and kept the wicket-keeper batsman at the middle-order.
Chris Silverwood opined that, both the players have experienced differently in the IPL 2020. He also mentioned that Ben Stokes enjoyed himself in the new position.
“It’s great that those two guys get the experience of doing different things and I don’t think it ever hurts them as players to explore different options, but it doesn’t muddy the waters at all,” said Chris Silverwood to PA news agency.
Ben Stokes is mainly a limited-overs and middle-order batsman. However, Ben was used as an opener for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and smashed 285 runs in eight fixtures. On the other hand, Jos Butler was opened a few innings for the RR team.
“I know Ben was keen to do it, he’s always keen to get up the order and give it a go. I wouldn’t say I was surprised, I’d say I was glad to see him do well” Chris Silverwood said.
England’s tour to South Africa will start from Friday in Netherlands.
