End of an era, Virat Kohli steps down from Test Cricket captaincy

With countless runs and records, Virat Kohli has stepped down from the red ball cricket captaincy after the series defeat against South Africa.

IND vs SA 2022 – Virat Kohli, the modern-day great and one of the most complete batsmen of this era has made his final call. After the series defeat against Rainbow nation, Virat Kohli stepped down from his captaincy at last after so many criticisms in past from Salman Butt to Gautam Gambhir. Virat Kohli replaced Dhoni in 2014/15 and was appointed as the Skipper.

Kohli announced he’s stepping down as captain from Test cricket through his Twitter account and wrote,

“Everything has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test Captain of India, it’s now,” he said.

Kohli also wrote about the ups and downs in the journey but there was no lack of belief and effort. He, in the end, thanked BCCI for them allowing him to lead the country and the teammates.

“I want to thank the BCCI for allowing me to lead my country for such a long period and more importantly to all the teammates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation.”

Virat Kohli has been the most successful Test captain with 40 victories out of 68 games as skipper. The player also mentioned MS. Dhoni thanked him in his farewell.
