Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma’s split continues to make headlines months after their divorce. The couple officially parted ways in March 2025, just ahead of the IPL season, though reports suggest they had been living separately since June 2022.
While both initially chose silence, they have recently taken indirect swipes at each other in public. Chahal first drew attention after appearing in a viral photo wearing a T-shirt that read “Be your own sugar daddy.” He later addressed it on a podcast, but the move sparked a wave of chatter about his personal life.
Now, Dhanashree has responded with her own candid remarks. In a conversation with Humans of Bombay, she revealed:
“Even though we were mentally prepared, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I just kept crying. And he (Chahal) walked out first. Before I even knew about this T-shirt stunt, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for the divorce. You know that people are going to target the woman in these situations.”
Adding fuel to the ongoing narrative, Dhanashree was also seen in the Rise & Fall teaser, where she took a subtle dig, saying, “Mein bhi disrespect kar sakti thi,” a line many fans interpreted as directed at Chahal.
With the high-stakes reality show set to test contestants’ resilience, Dhanashree’s presence — coupled with her public remarks — is expected to be one of the most talked-about storylines this season.
