The ordeal began on May 23 when Zimbabwean senator David Coltart revealed that Streak was confronting Stage 4 colon and liver cancer. This news sent shockwaves through the cricketing community, and fans and fellow players rallied around Streak during his health battle.
Only ten days before his demise, on August 23, social media was abuzz with reports of Streak’s passing. These rumors prompted an outpouring of condolences from current and former cricketers. However, Streak himself, along with former teammate Henry Olonga, refuted the false reports on Twitter, briefly raising hopes for his recovery.
This time, the tragic news has been confirmed by Heath Streak’s father, Denis Streak, who disclosed the painful truth to the Sunday News. Denis Streak revealed, “Heath had not been well for a while; for almost six months, he was battling cancer. He passed away in the early hours at 1 AM.” In his final moments, Streak was surrounded by loved ones at his family farm in Inyathi, Matabeleland North.
