“Coming into the game, I felt good”, James Anderson addressed on retirement rumors

James Anderson, fast bowler and leading wicket-taker, clarified that he does not intend to take retirement, as opposed to the rumors about him.

England fast bowler and the leading wicket-taker James Anderson, 38, had come across a lot of retirement rumors in recent days. He clarified and abandoned all of those. In a virtual press conference on Monday, talking on his retirement rumors he firmly said, “No, absolutely not.”

“Everyone has a bad game, I’m sure I will have more bad games. It’s trying to keep a positive mental attitude, focus on the next game, but everything else behind. When you play well you can’t dwell on that either, you have to put it behind and focus on what’s coming up.” James Anderson said.

He has no intention to cease his cricket career, reiterating his desire to play in the 2022 Ashes in Australia if that is what the Coronavirus pandemic dictates. He promised to stay good on his fitness and hopes to work hard for the matches in the future. He admitted to being a bit frustrated and undergoing pressure during the recent play. He seeks to work on his personal well being to stay calm and focused through his sessions on the field.

“Coming into the game I felt good. But during it there was something off; the rhythm wasn’t quite there. As I went through the game I just tried to start bowling quicker and run in faster…I will keep my fingers crossed that the captain and coach keep faith with me for the next game”, he added.
