
The BCCI has announced the entire schedule for the Indian team as the year comes close to an end. This year most of the matches were cancelled due to the pandemic. All the cricketing action was halted in India for indefinite period. South Africa who were in India in the month of March when the lockdown was announced, had to leave the tour midway as the COVID cases in India were seeing a dangerous rise. IPL which is usually played around March and May was also postponed indefinitely. There was no scope for IPL to be played in India. It was expected that this year’s IPL wouldn’t be played. The BCCI with help of UAE cricket board was successful in making the IPL possible as the entire tournament was shifted to UAE. The tournament was a huge success as the MI came out as the 5 times champions.
The BCCI president and the secretary had previously announced that the cricketing action will be back in India as early as January 2021. The BCCI has also announced that the domestic cricket will also start in the month of January.
The BCCI has announced the entire schedule for the Indian team in the year 2021 as they approach year end. The first tour will be a home series for the Men in Blue as the England team will travel for a entire tour in the month of January and will be here till March. After the home series the players will participate in the IPL for their respective IPL teams. The IPL will end around the month of May.
After the IPL, the Indian team will visit the southern nation of Sri Lanka for 3 ODI’s and 5 T20’s. This tour will be played in the month of June. As soon as the Sri Lankan tour is done the team will head for the multi-nation series which is the Asia Cup. This series will be played in the month of June and July. The Zimbabwe tour will be played after the Asia Cup where the team will play three ODI’s which will be held in the month of July. The Zimbabwe tour will be followed by the Indian team visiting England for the tests in the month of July and will return in September.
After the English tour the Indian team will have home series as the South Africa will play 3 ODI’s and 5 T20’s in the month of October. This series will be followed by the mega event of the year, ICC T20 World Cup. This will be played in India between the month of October and November. New Zealand will stay back in India for their matches as the Indian team will face the Kiwi challenge in the month of November and December. At last, the Indian team will go to South Africa for 3 tests and 3 ODI’s.
It will be a long 2021 with lots of cricketing action and the Men in Blue have to be prepared for this challenge.
