Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a great and promising prospect in recent years. He might have made his debut in the 2016 series against Australia, but he witnessed a significant transition in his career under the tenure of Ravi Shastri from 2017 onward. Hence, to acknowledge the tremendous efforts put into procuring the best out of him, Bumrah on Wednesday thanked Shastri and other coaches who helped him unlock immense potential.
For the words of support, motivation and encouragement.
For the guidance and the tireless work behind the scenes.
For being a constant source of learning and counsel.
Thank you for your invaluable contribution and good luck for your future endeavours 😊 pic.twitter.com/Ad4r0bVUkf— Jasprit Bumrah (@Jaspritbumrah93) November 10, 2021
Through a tweet, Bumrah left a heartfelt message for the coaches. The statement read, “For the words of support, motivation, and encouragement. For the guidance and the tireless work behind the scenes. For being a constant source of learning and counsel. Thank you for your invaluable contribution and good luck for your future endeavors.”
The coaching tenure of head coach Shastri, bowling coach Arun, and fielding coach Shridhar ended with India’s journey in the T20 World Cup 2021. The team crashed out of the tournament despite winning 3 of their 5 matches. The woeful start of the tournament suggested that a change was imminent. Hence, the new management will be looking to learn from this tournament and make some changes.
Although one tournament alone cannot justify all the good that Ravi Shastri’s run as the head coach brought to the Indian team. Despite ICC trophies eluding Virat Kohli and Shastri’s duo, they made some outstanding records in the bilateral series. Two of the biggest were becoming the first Asian team to win a test series in Australia. Later they also become the only second team to win back-to-back test series down under. Therefore, Ravi Shastri will always be remembered for what he did instead of what he couldn’t.
