Brandon King has been named the interim captain for the West Indies in their upcoming T20I series at home against South Africa.
King’s appointment follows the unavailability of Rovman Powell, who, along with several other players, is currently participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in India.
Powell and Shimron Hetmyer are playing for the Rajasthan Royals, while Andre Russell and Sherfane Rutherford are with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Alzarri Joseph is also unavailable as he is part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad, which has qualified for the playoffs.
Cricket West Indies has also decided to rest Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran, even though they are not participating in the playoffs. Shamar Joseph, who played one game for the Lucknow Super Giants, has been included in the squad and could make his T20I debut. Additionally, Joseph and Rutherford may join the squad later if RCB and KKR do not reach the final.
