BCCI provides update on India’s new T20 jersey as MPL takes over as their new sponsor

The BCCI on Friday informed that the Indian cricket team would be having a new sponsor for their team jersey which will be revealed later.

For the T20 World Cup this year, BCCI has informed that Team India’s new T20 jersey will be having a new sponsor brand which is set to be unveiled later. On Friday, the BCCI board informed that the blue pattern that the team has been sporting since the start of the Australia series late last year.  MPL Sports will be launching the new jersey, who are the official kit sponsors for the Indian Cricket Team since last year.

BCCI also tweeted the exciting news on their social media handle page as MPL sports are set to announce their new jersey for this year’s World T20 by mentioning “ The moment we’ve all been waiting for.”

The dark blue jersey which the players have been sporting since December of 2021 is similar to India’s 1992 World Cup jersey. Although the initial plan was to use the pattern only for the T20 series against Australia, they will be putting a new colour alongside blue for the upcoming new jersey which will be revealed on the 13th of October.

Fans would be hoping for a return of their favourite traditional blue colour which has become synonymous with Indian cricket. There will be a sense of excitement around the fans of the world to see the newly studded Indian T20 jersey for the upcoming T20 World Cup held in Dubai which officially starts from the 19th of October, with the finals on the 14th of November to be played in Dubai International Stadium.

In November last year, Team India’s new jersey, which they are currently wearing, was unveiled. The jersey has a retro feel to it and is strikingly similar to the one that Team India wore during the 1992 World Cup.
