BCCI President Sourav Ganguly releases statement on hosting women’s world cup

BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, and BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, have released a statement on hosting the women’s world cup in 2025.

India will be hosting the women’s world cup in 2025. The popularity of women’s cricket in India is rising and amidst the upsurge, BCCI is paving way for the world cup in 2025. India previously hosted the 50-over world cup in 2013. Since then, the sport has seen a paradigm shift in India with the women’s team competing with the likes of Australia, West Indies, England, and South Africa. BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, and BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah, have released a statement on hosting the women’s world cup in 2025.

Sourav Ganguly while assuring complete support for the event, said, “We were keen on hosting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and we are glad we have won the hosting rights for this marquee clash on the women’s calendar. India hosted the 50-over women’s world cup in 2013 and the sport is undergone tremendous transformation since then. The popularity of women’s cricket rapidly rising and this is a step in the right direction. The BCCI will work closely with the ICC and fulfill all the requirements.”
