According to reports on January 25, the BCCI is expected to announce the names of the five franchises that will compete in the first Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) as well as the cities in which they will be based.
On that day, the franchises’ financial bids, which are currently being submitted in sealed envelopes, will be opened. The BCCI has made it clear in its tender document that it is “not required to accept the highest monetary offer” and that it will seek out ways for the bidders to contribute to the expansion of women’s cricket in India.
The WIPL, which is anticipated to take place from March 5 to 23 this year, has five franchises available for purchase and operation. Last week, the BCCI released the tender inviting bids.
