Contrary to popular perception, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has consistently met its income tax obligations, paying a total of Rs 4,298 crore over the past five years.
Union Minister of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, revealed this information in response to queries during a Rajya Sabha session.
The breakdown of BCCI’s income tax payments includes Rs 1,159.20 crore for the most recent fiscal year, along with Rs 844.92 crore (2020-21), Rs 882.29 crore (2019-20), Rs 815.08 crore (2018-19), and Rs 596.63 crore (2017-18). This disclosure counters misconceptions about BCCI’s financial practices and underscores its responsible approach to tax obligations.
