India’s Chairman of Senior Selection Committee, Ajit Agarkar, is preparing to visit West Indies to meet with head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma ahead of the 50-over World Cup, commencing on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
The meeting aims to outline India’s strategy for the tournament and synchronize the team management and selection committee’s vision for the core 20 players.
Discussions will also encompass fitness issues, workload management, and the transition plan. A significant focus will be on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness status, with uncertainty regarding his availability for the three-match T20I series in Ireland, as the National Cricket Academy’s Sports Science and Medical Unit is yet to issue an RTP certificate for the speedster.
Meanwhile, VVS Laxman will lead the second-string team to Ireland, adhering to the convention where NCA head serves as the coach for such tours.
