BCCI announces T20 World Cup squad; MS Dhoni as team mentor; R. Ashwin included in squad

The BCCI has brought back MS Dhoni into the Indian squad as the team’s mentor for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

The BCCI has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup with a massive boost to the squads’ mentality with the inclusion of the former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni as the team’s mentor as revealed by the BCCI Secretary Jay Shah earlier today.

“As far as Dhoni is concerned, I spoke to him when I was in Dubai. He was okay with the decision, and he agreed to be a mentor for team India, for the T20 World Cup only,” said Shah as reported on the ICC website.

Dhoni was part of India’s first T20 International match where he made his debut in December 2006 against South Africa. He led India to its first-ever T20 World Cup the following year. MS Dhoni became only the second Indian captain to win a World Cup in any form of cricket since Kapil Dev.

Ravichandran Ashwin makes a comeback to the squad for the white ball tournament for the first team in four years. He was named in India’s 15 member squad for the T20 World Cup that is to be held in the UAE.

The men in blue will begin their campaign in a mouth-watering encounter against Pakistan on the 24th of October in Dubai
