“As far as Dhoni is concerned, I spoke to him when I was in Dubai. He was okay with the decision, and he agreed to be a mentor for team India, for the T20 World Cup only,” said Shah as reported on the ICC website.
Dhoni was part of India’s first T20 International match where he made his debut in December 2006 against South Africa. He led India to its first-ever T20 World Cup the following year. MS Dhoni became only the second Indian captain to win a World Cup in any form of cricket since Kapil Dev.
