BBL: Melbourne Stars hire former England coach Peter Moores

Peter Moores, a former England and present Nottinghamshire coach, has been appointed head coach of Melbourne Stars for the upcoming two BBL seasons.

Moores will replace David Hussey in the vacant position left by Hussey’s decision to accept a position as Victoria’s director of male cricket following four seasons as Stars coach. Moores will then become the only active foreign coach in the BBL.

Moores served as England’s head coach twice, from 2007 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2015. Since taking over in 2017, he has enjoyed great success in English county cricket, claiming three county championships with Sussex and Lancashire, two T20 Blast titles, and a one-day trophy with Nottinghamshire. He will continue working for Nottinghamshire.
