BBL 10: Sydney Thunders make it to the playoffs along with a new record for Alex Hales

Alex Hales broke the record of most sixes in a single BBL season with a total of 30 sixes and helped his team to reach the playoffs. With a total of 53 fours and 30 sixes coming out of Hales’ bat this season, the 32-year old player tops this list as well. Hales’ four sixes at the Adelaide Oval tonight powered him to top another list – one that of hitting most sixes in a BBL season.

The win against Adelaide Strikers helped them to get the spot in the play-offs and Strikers will now depend on the result of the others. Sydney Thunders beat Adelaide Strikers by 9-wicket to book their place in the knockout. The 39 balls 63 from the bat of Alex Hales lead the side to victory, he played this fantastic inning just after few days scoring his first BBL century.


Chasing a 116-run target in a 14-over contest, Thunder sealed the chase in the 13th over on the back of a match-winning 116-run partnership between opening batsman Alex Hales and captain Callum Ferguson (46*). Hales, who won yet another ‘Man of the Match’ award for scoring 63* (39) with the help of four fours and as many sixes, is also the highest run-scorer this season till now with his 535 runs coming at an average and strike rate of 41.15 and 163.60 respectively.

Coming on the back of an equally impressive maiden season at Thunder last season, Hales is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to make a national comeback for England.
