As the Asia Cup approaches, Bangladesh has been handed a severe blow after Nurul Hasan’s official withdrawal from the upcoming T20 competition (Asia Cup) due to a finger injury. Nurul underwent surgery on Monday, August 8, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board reported that his recovery time will be around four weeks. On Tuesday, Nurul will travel back to Dhaka from Singapore.
“A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan’s left index finger by hand surgeon Dr Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said in a statement.
During the second game of the three-match series in Harare, Nurul—who had been named captain of the T20 squad on the Zimbabwean tour—was hurt. He was subsequently ruled out of the series. Due to worries about injuries, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has granted BCB an extension to choose their final Asia Cup squad.
