After the trophy has been awarded, the players crowded against a ‘series won’ board for the team photo behind them. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto signaled in-sync with Mushfiqur for the celebration. With hilarious responses from his teammates, Mushfiqur walked in front of the board with his helmet, showing it to his teammates clapping, and laughing. The celebration was in a mock form in reference to the timing-out of Angelo Mathews during the 2023 World Cup, making it the first such incident against an international player in a league-stage game against Bangladesh after having helmet issues.
The incidence has sparked controversy between the two teams as the first T20 was played after which Shoriful Islam indicated an imaginary watch on his wrist when he took Avishka Fernando. The Srilankan side took the T20 trophy and all the players waved their fingers while celebrating the team photo. Leading to a five-year flame against the two sides is the rival with acrimoniously battling for years. Later this week, the two will play two Test matches series that already have fan tension and sparking with humor ahead.
