Bangladesh unveils vibrant squad for Asia Cup

Bangladesh Cricket has unveiled a spirited 17-member squad for the imminent Asia Cup, demonstrating a fusion of youthful promise and seasoned expertise.

Emerging talents and returning players mark this dynamic roster, as the team strives for a competitive edge in the upcoming tournament while also laying the groundwork for the impending World Cup. Notable inclusions feature uncapped opener Tanzid Tamim, propelled into the spotlight by his remarkable performances in the Emerging Asia Cup, where he notched up three half-centuries.

The absence of opener Tamim Iqbal, due to injury recovery, paved the way for Tanzid’s opportunity. Adding to the intrigue is the selection of young batter Shamim Patowary, known for his T20I prowess, receiving his inaugural call-up to the ODI lineup. Furthermore, the return of Mahedi Hasan, absent since his 2021 encounter against New Zealand, adds a layer of experience to the composition.

Guided by newly appointed ODI captain Shakib Al Hasan, the team aspires to strike a balance between emerging potential and established prowess, embodying the nation’s vision for a formidable cricketing future.
