Bangladesh embarks on World Test Championship journey with exciting Series line-up

Bangladesh has kickstarted its preparations for the new cycle of the World Test Championship by extending invitations to Ireland and Afghanistan for Test matches. The team, led by Litton Das, began their campaign with a dominating victory over Afghanistan, winning by a staggering margin of 546 runs. Earlier this year, they also secured a comfortable win against Ireland.

After finishing outside the top half of the points table in the previous two WTC cycles, Bangladesh is determined to improve their standing in the current cycle that commenced this week. Like the other eight teams, Bangladesh is scheduled to play six series from 2023 to 2025, with three at home and three away.

The series details for Bangladesh in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 are as follows:

1. New Zealand tour of Bangladesh, 2023:
Bangladesh’s first series of the new cycle will be against former champions New Zealand at home. In a memorable upset, Bangladesh defeated the Blackcaps in an away Test last year. They will aim to replicate that performance on home soil this year.

2. Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh, 2024:
Next, Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series likely to take place in February-March 2024.

3. Bangladesh tour of Pakistan, 2024:
Bangladesh’s first away series in this WTC cycle is expected to be against Pakistan. Although the specific dates for this tour have not been announced, it is anticipated to occur in August-September 2024.

4. Bangladesh tour of India, 2024:
Following the Pakistan tour, Bangladesh will head to India for a two-match Test series against the two-time World Test Championship runners-up. This series is likely to take place in September-October 2024.

5. South Africa tour of Bangladesh, 2024:
Upon returning home, Bangladesh will host South Africa for their final series on home soil. The series will consist of two matches and is scheduled for October-November 2024.

6. Bangladesh tour of West Indies, 2024:
To conclude their first round campaign in the World Test Championship, Bangladesh will embark on an away series against the West Indies. This two-match series will take place immediately after their home series against South Africa.

Bangladesh’s challenging and exciting series line-up promises a competitive journey in the World Test Championship 2023-25. The team aims to make a mark and improve their performance as they strive for success in the prestigious tournament.
