Bangladesh thrashed New Zealand in their first T20I match which was held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. This was Bangladesh’s first-ever victory against the Kiwis in the T20Is. The seven wickets victory helped the Bangladeshi players to lead the series by 1-0 against New Zealand.
New Zealand won the toss and decided to put some runs on the board first. But, it seems their plan didn’t work out well as the Kiwis were bowled out on their joint-lowest total in the T20 international cricket. Bangladeshi bowlers were clinical in this match as they dismissed the whole New Zealand team for just 60 runs in 16.5 overs. Bangladesh did not even let them stay on the crease for the whole 20 overs. For Bangladesh, star pacer Mustafizur Rahman took the most wickets (3/13 in just 2.5 overs) in this match. All-rounder Shakib Al Hassan, Nasum Ahmed, and pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin had two-two wickets to their name. New Zealand’s top scorer in this match was their captain Tom Nicholls (18 runs off 25 balls).

Bangladesh was also struggling in their batting at the start but, the star all-rounder Shakib Al Hassan who recently been named as the ICC men’s player of the month for July scored 25 off 33 balls and batsman Mushfiqur Rahim scored 16* from 26 balls which helped the Bangladesh team to win over New Zealand in their first T20I match with 30 balls left to play.
Shakib Al Hassan was been named the Player of the match as he took 2 wickets and scored 25 runs for his team. This was not the first time that New Zealand got out in the lowest ever score in T20, they also were bowled out by Sri-Lanka in the year 2014 on the same score at Chattogram stadium.
