Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made some notable changes in the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan, set to begin on July 5. Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim have been recalled to the squad, while pace bowler Taskin Ahmed makes his return following an injury that had sidelined him during the ODIs against Ireland.
Taskin’s comeback comes after successfully recovering from the injury he sustained in the previous series against Ireland, which had prevented him from participating in the subsequent Test match. The recent Test series against Afghanistan marked his return to international cricket. Meanwhile, Mohammad Naim’s impressive performance in the Dhaka Premier League, where he scored 932 runs in 16 matches with an average of 71.69, earned him a spot in the ODI squad. Afif Hossain, with his consistent performances in the same tournament, scoring 550 runs in 15 games at an average of 55, also secured his place in the team.
The three ODIs will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on July 8. Led by Tamim Iqbal, the squad also includes Liton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Towhid Hridoy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam, Afif Hossain, and Mohammad Naim.
