Ban vs WI: Kyle Mayers hits 200; Windies hammer the hosts and take 1-0 lead

Bangladesh drenched in sweat as West Indies won the Test match in off style. Debutant Kyle Mayers (210* off 310) notched up a double ton in his debut match in Chattogram. The 28-year-old left-hander registered the highest ever score in the fourth innings by a debutant. Mayers became the first debutant to hit a double century in the fourth innings and sixth man to do so on Test debut. Mayers scored 40 in their first innings. 

Mayers and Bonner had an eventful partnership to keep the scoreboard ticking while chasing 395. WI made history as they chased down 395, the fifth-highest run chase in history. In the first innings WI could only manage to bring 259 onboard while replying to Bangladesh’s 430. On the final day Windies resumed the chase on 110 for 3 while they were 285 runs away from the historic win.

Tijul Islam bowled at an economy rate of 2.02. Mehidy Hassan took four wickets in each session. The exclusion of Shakib Al Hassan dented the spirit of Bangladesh. Jomel Warrican is the highest wicket taker for WI. He took three scalps in the first innings and four in the second. He reduced the hosts to 228/8 in their second innings and Bangladesh declared posting the target of 395. The Windies overhauled the target and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
