BAN v IND: Axar Patel’s four-fer leads India to victory against Bangladesh in the first Test

Bangladesh team got dismissed for 324 runs in the second innings.

Indian cricket team won the first Test match against Bangladesh at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday, 18th December. The Test match ended on the last day i.e. Day 5. It took only 50 minutes for the Indian bowlers to wrap up the match on the last day.

At the start of the day, India needed 4 wickets whereas Bangladesh needed 241 runs to win the game. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan tried hard to counterattack Indian bowlers but got dismissed later by spin bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Shakib scored 84 runs and was the second top-scorer for Bangladesh in the second innings.

Bangladesh lost the first game of the series and now they can only defend it by drawing by 1-1 as the last game will be starting on 22nd December. Indian bowlers did well to restrict Bangladesh in both innings. Spin bowlers namely Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were top of their game as they took 5 and 4 wickets respectively in the first and second innings.

India won the first Test match under KL Rahul’s captaincy.
