A fabulous series finally came to an end for the Australian women’s cricket team as they defeated India by 14 runs in the third T20I, to win the series by a margin of 2-0. After a magnificent outing in the one-off test match, India came into the T20I series with all guns blazing. They made a quickfire 131 runs in the first match of the series, unfortunately, the match couldn’t procure a result. After this, their performance dipped considerably in the second match, and the third one was also not much different.

Winning the toss, India chose to bowl first. Things didn’t go according to plan for them though as despite losing an early wicket in form of Healy, the Australian women seem relentless. Beth Mooney was the pick of the batters for her team as she scored a fantastic 61 in just 43 balls. The middle-order once again crumbled a little, until Tahlia McGrath came in to play a dependable knock of 44, which helped Australia post a total of 150 for India to chase in the second inning.

Mandhana, after having a forgetful outing in the second T20I looked rather watchful in her approach, while the other batters around her just couldn’t keep going. They lost an early wicket of Verma at the meagre score of 1. Rodrigues and Ghosh made 23 each in the middle-order to take them closer to their target, but none of them could see them through. As a result, Smriti Mandhana’s Fifty went in vain as India 14 runs short of the target. They could only manage to accumulate 135 runs in their 20 overs.
